Federal Election – September 20th, 2021

The federal election is swiftly drawing to a close and the race in BC is as tight as ever. As you may have seen in recent polls, we are likely headed towards another minority government where Jagmeet Singh and the NDP can put forward a progressive vision of Canada by holding the balance of power.

We have several key ridings in our region and there are upcoming events to help ensure we continue to have progressive representation in Ottawa after September 20.

The event details are as follows:

Labour Canvass with New West District Labour Council

Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge – Phil Klapwyk

September 17 – 5:30pm to 8:30pm

22386 119th Avenue, Maple Ridge

September 18 – 5:30pm to 8:30pm

CUPE Leaflet Drop with CUPE BC Secretary-Treasurer Trevor Davies

Burnaby North-Seymour – Jim Hanson

September 19 – 2pm to 5pm

Please note that each of the events has a Facebook link where you can get the details and sign-up to attend.

If you are interested in participating but are new to this work or are nervous to speak to voters, please know that we can pair you up with someone who will do that talking. Also, the final event is simply a leaflet drop at which we will just be dropping off materials to the doors of known supporters. We will do our best to accommodate anyone who wants to participate in a way they feel most comfortable!

Any questions about these events can be directed to the CUPE Election Coordinator for BC, Steve Beasley, at sbeasley@cupe.ca or 778-903-7394.
