BCFED & VCL | Kim Manton Memorial Scholarship | Dec 1, 2020
The BCFED in partnership with the Victoria Labour Council have established the Kim Manton Memorial Scholarship in honour of Kim’s legacy. Please find the attached detail, which outlines the application requirements and deadline. The successful candidate of this scholarship will have the cost of their tuition fees covered for one course, at the upcoming 2021 CLC Pacific Region Virtual Winter School. The recipient can select from either the “Women in Leadership” (week 4) or the “Community Advocate Level 1”(week 2) course.

British Columbia Reconciliation Award | Call for Applications | Jan 15, 2021
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, in partnership with the BC Achievement Foundation, recently announced the launch of the British Columbia Reconciliation Award, recognizing individuals and organizations who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, integrity, respect and commitment to furthering reconciliation or inspiring others to continue reconciliation efforts. Nominate an individual or organization today using the BC Reconciliation Award nomination form on the BC Achievement Foundation website. The nomination period will close on January 15, 2021.

CUPE BC Web Conference | Presentation Slides | Nov 23, 2020
Thanks to all those who joined CUPE BC’s November 23rd web conference, which focused on tech trends and ways to effectively engage members, workplaces, and communities using digital tools. PSAC BC Virtual Memorial | End Violence Against Women | Dec 6, 2020
In memory of the 14 women murdered during the 1989 Montréal massacre, the PSAC BC Region is hosting a virtual memorial on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. As part of the event, the PSAC Vancouver Island Regional Women’s Committee will also collect donations in support of local women’s organizations. This event is open to all, and Zoom coordinates will be issued to registrants on the day of the event.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that working sick isn’t working. Please consider signing the BCFED letter to the Provincial and Federal Prime Ministers in support of making permanent paid sick leave available to all workers. For more information, please click here.
CoDevelopment Canada | 2020 Winter Appeal
CUPE BC is a partner of CoDev Canada, a non-profit that works for social change and global education in the Americas. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated many existing challenges for CoDev and CUPE BC’s Latin American partners, such as CODEMUH Honduran Women’s Collective and MEC, who advocate on behalf Central American maquila workers in the face of growing gender violence and human rights and labour violations.
