CUPE BC President announces he will not seek re-election at May convention

Paul Faoro, our good friend and brother and leader, has decided not to seek re-election at the upcoming CUPE BC 2021 Convention.

“Paul has been instrumental in guiding us through COVID, he has been a principled leader who has worked hard to elect a worker-friendly government and make our economy work for everyone, including the little guy, and his accomplishments speak for themselves. On behalf of CUPE Local 716 and our 1100 members working in the Richmond Public School system, I wish to extend a sincere thanks for everything Paul has done for us and our province, both unionized and unrepresented, and for our movement” said Ian Hillman, President of CUPE Local 716.

“Whatever the future brings for Paul, we know he will be a tireless fighter for the causes we care about. Wherever Paul went, he made things better and he should be proud of his many achievements, and I have no doubt this will be true in whatever he does in the future” added Hillman.
